Easy to make Easter Egg Chocolate Nests

You can keep the kids busy and treat them at the same time this Easter. We all know kids love Easter eggs, chocolate and anything sweet. They will love making these cute little Easter Egg Chocolate Nests.

This is also a good way for you to spend some quality time with your children and have loads of fun.

Easter Egg Chocolate Nests (makes 12)

Total preparation time: 1 hour 30 minutes

• 325g milk or plain chocolate, chopped

• 1 tablespoon butter or margarine

• 150g rice krispie cereal

• 50g desiccated coconut

• mini chocolate eggs, jelly beans or smarties to decorate

Melt the chocolate and butter in a double boiler and stir until smooth. If you do not have a double boiler, you can boil water in a deep saucepan and mix the butter and chocolate in a bowl over the saucepan.

When smooth, stir in the cereal (rice krispies) until the cereal is well coated.

Divide the mixture into 12 mounds on a greaseproof paper-lined baking tray.

Shape the mounds into nests by indenting the centre of each mound.

Allow to cool.

When the nests are cool, place small colored chocolate Easter eggs in the nests. You can also place jelly beans or smarties in the little Easter Egg Nests.

You can also place the melted chocolate in cupcake holders as shown on the photo.

Easter Holiday Tips

Ensure that small children are at all times accompanied by an adult when in the kitchen. Never leave a pot or pan with boiling water within reach of small children. Keep all knives and sharp objects safely stored away.

Make sure that your Home Insurance is up to date – just in case the cooking doesn’t quite work out as planned.
